Reef fishing is the most popular fishing trip here on the Island. It is always a great day fishing because you are almost guaranteed a nice catch, which our Chef will be preparing for you at dinner time. Not to mention the fact that our guides have no problem sharing their own “secret” spots!
There is a lot of action when you go reef fishing and most of it is done inside the reef and channels on Ambergris Caye.
Snapper, barracuda, jacks and grouper are some of the common catches on a day trip. All tackle, gear and bait is provided by our professional fishing guides. They are as well equipped with a cooler filled with sodas, water and ice. When you would prefer an ice cold Belikin beer or any alcoholic beverages on your trip, our staff from the Green Parrot Beach Bar, will be more than happy to fill the cooler for you. *Please note that alcoholic beverages are not included in the fishing trips.
Be a responsible fisher:
At Portofino Resort, we encourage our guests to "Catch and release" which is popular here in our waters. Once you land your catch, there's a decision to make -- keep it or release it… We encourage all our guests to keep your catch only, if the fish you caught is of a legal species and legal size and will be consumed by you during lunch or dinner.
At Portofino you can book Reef fishing as half day or full day charters.
ROCKY POINT:
Go North on a full day fishing and snorkeling trip to Rocky point for mainly Grouper and Snapper, we will provide a Beach Barbeque with your catch, nothing like it!

FISHING, SNORKELING & BEACH BBQ:
Begin your day trolling the reef system around Ambergris Caye for Snapper, Grouper, Barracuda, and Jackfish. After the fun and excitement of catching your lunch, continue up north to a stretch of beach where your guide will prepare a Bar B Que on the beach. After a hearty meal you head to the famous Mexico Rocks, where spectacular sea life and mounds of corals abound.
